Photographers continued

Make sure you don't forget to ask potential wedding photographers the following questions. Make sure you find the one that answers the questions the way you want to hear.

What shots do you always try to get at a wedding? What if the bride and groom don’t want to see each other before the ceremony? Are there still shots that can be taken? Can you show me some albums in their entirety? Evaluate the pictures to see it the couple looks natural and if this is what you want your wedding album to look like. Are feelings and emotions oozing out of the picture or does the couple seem stiff and uncomfortable. Ask the photographer if he/she took these pictures.

By now you should be able to tell if you like the photographer’s personality. You will be spending a lot of time with him/her so you should like them. How many hours will you be shooting pictures? What are your start and end times? What is the overtime charge? How much extra time are you willing to stay? What family members do you put in the pictures and when are these pictures taken? Spell out clearly what pictures you want taken and get this in writing. What can I do to ensure we get all of our shots?

Photography is an art. Many models take good pictures because they know how to angle their face. Good photographers need to know how to angle their lens and your faces to bring our your best. Ask them what suggestions they have on making you look your best and what you should avoid. Ask them what their goal is when they shoot weddings. What type of pictures can I get- black and white or are they all color? Are touch ups included in the price? How long have you been in business? Do you belong to any professional associations?

Professionals should always be trying to improve. What do you do to improve? Where did you learn to shoot wedding pictures? Can I have three references from recent weddings?
How soon will my pictures be ready? How do I view my wedding pictures? Will it be proofs, video, or on the internet? Are the proofs for sale? How long can I take to decide what pictures I want? Can relatives order pictures on the internet? How are they delivered? What is the pricing for extra and duplicate pictures? What are the charges
for albums? Can you guarantee that you will be my photographer? What happens if you are sick? What type of equipment do you use? Do you bring back up equipment with you
the day of the wedding? What will you be wearing? Who will be helping me after the wedding. What is your payment policy and guarantee on the final product?

Be sure to thoroughly read over the contract before signing. Get all extra services in writing. Finding a good photographer is a major wedding decision. Take your time to
find the right person.
